Harvey Kahan, age 82 of Buffalo Grove, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 at home surrounded by family. He is survived by his loving wife Judy. Born in Chicago to Harry and Esther Kahan, he lived the majority of his life in the northern suburbs of Chicago. Harvey was extremely loving and proud of his four children and three stepchildren, Steven (Terry) Kahan, David Kahan, Larry Kahan, Andrea (Craig) Biwer, Sandy (Carl) Rosenberg, Marcy Strauss, and Jackie (Bob) Roiter. He is also survived by his sister Helen (Irving) Zolt. Harvey was preceded in death by his brother Al (Sue) Kahan. He was a loving “Papa” of fourteen grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Lexi (Dani) Rachael, Beth, Brandon, Lea, Chase, Jill, Robin (Warren), Jeff (Kim), Adam, Danny, Scott and one great grandchild, Chase. Harvey was a passionate and loving man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He worked as a pharmacist throughout his career, owning three drugstores in the Chicagoland area. He was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. In his spare time he enjoyed painting, gardening, and enthusiastically following the Chicago White Sox, Blackhawks and Bears. Chapel service Thursday May 8th, 2:30 pm at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park.
